What's wrong with a little patriotic pride, hmm? Especially when it's viewed from my desk into the big guy's office? Nuthin' at all, in my opinion!

I realize that already half of my pictures involve my pets but hey, these are my kids. This is my "youngest," Harlem. Harlem is a Cane Corso (or an Italian Mastiff), and he's not quite a year old yet. He's a sweetie deep down under the oversized puppy behaviour. I have to remind myself of that a few times a day, at least!
This is how he looks at me when I'm coming up the stairs and he's patiently sitting and waiting...

January 3rd
Who doesn't love a good cup o' tea on the couch in your jammies on a Sunday evening after a busy day? (Tomorrow, I'm changing cameras and/or lenses. I'm starting a weird trend with texture and it's time to change it up!)

January 2nd
Day two's submission stars our adoptive cat, Mickey. His story is that my mom got him from a farm and thought he was a girl. She named 'her' Maggie. I came home from the big city one weekend and flipped 'Maggie' over and said, "Mom, Maggie's a boy." She didn't believe me and stuck to her guns. Three weeks later, I came out for another visit and greeted 'Maggie' with a boisterous hello only to be corrected, unhappily, by Mom. "It's not Maggie. It's Mickey. He's a boy." Well, I hate to say I told you so...

Mr. Mickey came to live with us when my mom made the decision to follow her husband while he works (he's an inspector for major pipeline companies). It was a bit of an adjustment for him coming from a pretty charmed life to having to share the house with three dogs. As an outdoor/indoor cat his entire life (10 years and counting now), we were afraid to allow him outside since we live on a busy street and this is BC. Predator wildlife a-plenty around these parts!
On Tuesday, Mickey went head to head with a vehicle and lost. His jaw is wired, he lost some teeth, and he got quite a few bumps and bruises. We love him dearly though and we're nursing him back to health. Today's picture captures Mickey waiting for my husband to come home by sitting on hubby's computer chair... (and I messed around with the settings and some editing for fun)...
